Residential HVAC warranties are standardized. Manufacturers offer comprehensive coverage for 5-10 years through manufacturers’ warranties and additional labor coverage. To start, the typical HVAC warranty length ranges from six months to a year, and, on rare occasions, extends to two years. Also, the scope of coverage tends to be more restrictive. While “materials” or “parts” are generally included, many essential components that require regular replacement are often excluded. Lastly, warranties often come with vague, ill-defined fine print, for instance, the term “new equipment.” How long is equipment considered “new”?

So, although school HVAC warranties do provide some level of protection, school administrators must remain cautious and thoroughly review the terms before fully relying on their HVAC provider.

Key features of the new warranty plan:

• Comprehensive Coverage: All original factory-installed functional parts are covered, with the exception of cabinet components and routine maintenance items (air filters). Coverage applies to parts failure due to normal wear and tear. Labor costs are not included in the coverage. 

• No Extra Charge: This warranty is included with every school air solution unit at no additional charge to the end user. 

• Routine Maintenance: Coverage is conditional upon routine maintenance as per the product manual. Proof of a maintenance agreement or maintenance performance dates may be required.    

• Exclusion of Caustic Environments: Failure due to neglect, misuse, or exposure to caustic air is not covered. 

• Exclusion of Installation: Warranty applies to units purchased and installed exclusively by AIRSYS authorized technicians and/or authorized distribution representatives.  

• Warranty Activation: To activate the warranty, the product must be registered within 6 months of the date the factory shipped the unit or at the time of installation. If the unit is not registered, the 5-year parts warranty activation date will match the date of shipment from the manufacturer.
