AIRSYS Cooling Technologies establishing new global headquarters with expansion in Spartanburg County
May 8, 2025State and local elected leaders joined executives from AIRSYS Cooling Technologies to break ground on the company’s new $40 million global headquarters in Woodruff May 8.
The cutting-edge headquarters and manufacturing facility will occupy a 60-acre campus at 6228 S.C. Highway 101 and is expected to bring 215 new jobs.
The 264,000-square-foot plant is expected to become one of the largest 3-D printing manufacturing facilities in the world when completed in 2026. The technology will be used to make customizable spray liquid cooling components for high-density computing servers.
The company was founded 30 years ago by Yunshui Chen and manufactures cooling systems for medical equipment like MRI machines and for computer data centers and telecommunications equipment. It is currently headquartered in Greer and has operations across the globe in countries including Australia, Brazil, China, Germany, Singapore and the United Kingdom.
In comments during the groundbreaking ceremony, AIRSYS President Paul Quigley said the proliferation of data centers is driving high demand for effective, energy-efficient cooling systems and that since the company’s founding AIRSYS has focused on “mission critical cooling.”
Both Chen and Quigley praised state and local leaders for their assistance in making the new facility possible and particularly singled out the city of Woodruff for their welcome and help.
“We are people with dirt under our fingernails,” Quigley said. “We work hard … we get along well, and that’s what this community is.”
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits related to the project. The council also awarded a $500,000 Set-Aside grant to Spartanburg County to assist with the costs of site preparation and building construction.
